About us

Galaxy Karunasai serves as the public face of Galaxy NGO, a multifaceted organization that has been leading transformative efforts in mental health, addiction recovery, cultural preservation, and social empowerment for over 24 years. Established on January 1, 2001, Galaxy Karunasai’s flagship project, the Karuna Sai Addiction and Mental Health Research Institute, has successfully treated over 10,000 individuals, offering a holistic approach that combines scientific treatment with alternative healing methods such as yoga, meditation, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The institute is known for its compassionate care, set in an eco-friendly environment, providing drug therapy, counseling, and ongoing support through follow-ups.

In addition to this, Karuna Sai Counseling Centre offers specialized counseling services for individuals, families, and adolescents, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. The Praptam Adolescence Centre focuses on guiding adolescents through the critical challenges of hormonal changes and peer pressure, providing much-needed emotional and psychological support. The Lively Hood Project works extensively in tribal settlement areas, having rehabilitated over 200 families from addiction through medical camps, counseling, and continuous follow-up activities to ensure long-term recovery.

Other notable projects include the CPLI (Community Peer Lead Intervention Program), which aims to prevent drug abuse among youth, and the IRCA (Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts), which provides comprehensive rehabilitation services focusing on detoxification and skill development for individuals struggling with addiction. The ODIC (Outreach and Drop-In Centres) initiative offers safe spaces and essential services for those affected by substance abuse, and the SMILE Project focuses on rehabilitating beggars, offering vocational training and reintegrating them into society.

Galaxy Karunasai is also pioneering new approaches to mental health with Psychopark, a mental health innovation center dedicated to research and treatment, and Karunasai Radio 91.2 FM, a community radio station that raises awareness about mental health and addiction recovery. Together, these projects reflect Galaxy Karunasai’s commitment to creating a healthier, more inclusive society where mental health is prioritized, and individuals are empowered to lead fulfilling lives.

Director's Message

LR Madhujan

Dear Friends,

It is with immense pride and gratitude that I welcome you to Galaxy Karunasai, a reflection of our unwavering commitment to mental health, addiction recovery, and social empowerment. Over the past two decades, our journey has been marked by resilience, compassion, and a steadfast belief in the transformative power of care and community support.

Since the inception of Karuna Sai Addiction and Mental Health Research Institute in 2001, we have dedicated ourselves to helping individuals overcome the challenges of addiction and mental health struggles. The success of our holistic treatment approach, blending science, psychology, and alternative healing methods, has not only changed the lives of over 10,000 individuals but also reaffirmed our belief that everyone deserves a second chance to live a fulfilling, healthy life.

Our mission extends beyond rehabilitation to the broader goal of creating inclusive, mentally resilient communities. Through projects like the CPLI (Community Peer Lead Intervention Program), IRCA (Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts), and ODIC (Outreach and Drop-In Centres), we have expanded our impact, supporting youth, families, and marginalized communities affected by addiction. The SMILE Project and Lively Hood Project further our goal of empowering individuals by offering vocational training, rehabilitation, and sustainable opportunities to rebuild their lives.

We also understand that true healing encompasses mental wellness and cultural preservation. That’s why initiatives like Psychopark, a hub for mental health research and treatment innovation, and Karunasai Radio 91.2 FM, our community platform for mental health awareness, have become vital pillars of our outreach.

As we move forward, our vision remains clear: to continue building a society where mental health is a priority, where individuals are empowered to overcome life’s challenges, and where inclusivity and compassion form the foundation of our work. We invite you to join us in this mission, whether through support, collaboration, or simply raising awareness about the importance of mental health and addiction recovery.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Warm regards,
Director, Galaxy Karunasai
